Common Decency

Common Decency occupies the basement of The NoMad London, the Grade II listed former Bow Street Magistrates' Court where Oscar Wilde was once tried for 'an affront to common decency'. The name is the bar's own nod to that history. Reached by its own entrance off Bow Street, it is a subterranean world of Belle Époque styling: shell-form glass chandeliers, plush fringed velvet chairs, patterned carpets and theatrical curtained booths, all set beneath low vaulted ceilings.

The space runs to three connected rooms, with a small stage for entertainment in the main lounge and intimate snugs behind curtains for quieter corners. The cocktail programme comes from The NoMad's bar team, a seasonal list built around a handful of ingredients. In such demand since it opened in September 2022 that it now operates as an events-only space, Common Decency lends itself to private receptions, launches and after-dark celebrations for up to 150 guests.
