/ About
Moor Hall is a Grade II listed house in Aughton, West Lancashire, set in five acres of gardens around a lake said to be the remains of a medieval moat. Andy and Tracey Bell bought it in 2015 and, after a renovation, opened it in March 2017 as a restaurant with rooms, with Mark Birchall, formerly executive chef at L'Enclume, as chef patron. The restaurant now holds three Michelin stars.
The dining room is the modern part of the estate: polished concrete walls, slate floors and floor-to-ceiling windows over the lake and the wildflower garden, with the open kitchen in full view. It seats 35 and can be taken exclusively for a lunch or dinner. Inside the old house, Atelier Hearth is the private dining room for up to 12, created with The Macallan, with artwork made for the room and views over the gardens. A short walk away, The Barn is a converted stable block that once held carriages and horses. It holds a Michelin star of its own, keeps its own bakery, small dairy and meat-ageing room, and seats 50.
The whole estate can be hired exclusively: both restaurants, the lounge and bar, the gardens and the lake, with fourteen bedrooms across the main house, the gatehouse and seven Garden Rooms, each with a private terrace and hot tub. On those days it takes 50 guests to dine and 80 in the evening, and it is licensed for wedding ceremonies on site.
