/ About
Midsummer House is Daniel Clifford's restaurant in a Victorian villa on Midsummer Common in Cambridge. Its back faces the River Cam and its front looks over the Common, where cattle still graze. Clifford opened here in 1998, won a first Michelin star in 2002 and a second in 2004, and the 2026 MICHELIN Guide keeps both. The house holds five AA rosettes and calls itself the only two-star restaurant in the East of England.
Dinner is a surprise tasting menu in three lengths, Solstice, Corpus and Trinity, with a wine pairing chosen course by course and an alcohol-free pairing made in house. The dining room sits in the conservatory and the main house, with a window through to the kitchen so guests can watch the team at work. After dinner there is a conservatory lounge lined with wooden shelving, and a roof terrace looking across the river.
For private events the whole house can be taken for a birthday, an anniversary, a wedding reception or a corporate dinner. The house states up to 45 guests seated in the main dining room and a further 14 in the private dining room, which sits on the first floor above the Common with its own access to the roof terrace. The private dining room can also be booked on its own, Wednesday to Saturday, for lunch or dinner.
