Manthan occupies an elegant townhouse on Maddox Street, the Mayfair address where chef Rohit Ghai and Abhishake Sangwan first worked together a decade before opening it in 2021. The name translates as churning, and the cooking reflects it: regional Indian dishes that set home-style recipes from Ghai's childhood against the technique he built at Gymkhana, Jamavar and Kutir. Sharing plates, grills and curries arrive alongside street-food bar snacks and a cocktail list Sangwan themes around the seven oceans of the world.

The room seats around forty across sleek interiors of dark wood and marble, with teal velvet banquettes set around a central statement bar. That intimacy is the point for a private event: the whole restaurant can be taken exclusively, and a private dining space handles smaller celebrations and business dinners. Menus are built to the table, from tasting formats to shared feasts, and the team will tailor the evening down to the playlist.
