Automat

Automat is the revival of a Mayfair institution. The original American Brasserie ran on Dover Street from 2005, a fixture of the late-night, New-York-gloss end of London dining; the name returned in January 2026 a few streets away at 127 Mount Street, reached through the Tanner Krolle leather-goods store whose founding family brought the concept back. Interiors by Tomef Studio trade in warm brass, oak and low lamplight, with tall street-facing windows and palms softening the room.

The cooking reimagines early and mid-century American dining through a contemporary lens: the Automat Burger, a lobster roll, chicken pie and a steak tartare, plated with more precision than the format usually invites. The ground-floor restaurant seats around 58 and can be booked for a private dinner. Below it, a members-style Sporting Club of 24 covers, set among vintage sporting memorabilia and fitted with its own screen, is built for closer, later gatherings, with an invitation-only supper club behind it for regulars.

For a DJ-led event the draw is the crowd and the room rather than any grand scale. This is an intimate, design-led Mayfair address with a proper bar and a lower-ground space that takes to music once dinner is done.
