/ About

Jeru was Roy Ner's restaurant on Berkeley Street in Mayfair. The Israeli-born chef made his name in Sydney, where he led the kitchen at ARIA and co-founded Nour, and he moved to London to open Jeru in December 2021. The cooking was Eastern Mediterranean: long-fermented potato bread with truffle honey and chickpea miso butter, charcoal-roasted and dry-aged vegetables, and seafood from the restaurant's own fish market.

The house ran across three floors of 11 Berkeley Street, with a restaurant, an all-day bakery and a basement bar. At the centre of the restaurant sat the Wine Cellar, a semi-private corner built around a thousand-bottle wine wall under a row of vintage chandeliers. Downstairs was Layla, a lower-ground cocktail bar and dining room with a marble-topped bar, leather banquettes, eclectic artwork and its own DJ deck, with DJs and live music on the programme.

The top floor held two event rooms and a bar that served them both. Jeru Garden was an indoor garden of mature trees and hanging golden lanterns, lit by daylight in the day and by the lanterns at night. The Sapphire Room was dressed in midnight blue and gold under a handcrafted gold-leaf arched ceiling, and could be divided into six smaller spaces. The whole house could be taken for up to 300 guests.
