Hotel Café Royal occupies the curved block where Regent Street meets Piccadilly Circus, in a building that first opened as the Café Royal in 1865. For a century it was a gathering place for London's writers and artists, with Oscar Wilde and Whistler among the regulars, and a major restoration completed in 2012 returned the listed Louis XVI rooms to use within a contemporary five-star hotel. The event floors sit a little apart from the main lobby and have their own Air Street entrance, which keeps a private party self-contained.
The spaces run from grand to intimate. The Pompadour Ballroom is the showpiece: a gilded Louis XVI room with mirrored walls and painted ceilings, the largest of the event floors, hired for receptions and seated dinners beneath its chandeliers. The Domino Room is the heart of the building: a gilded Louis XVI salon of mirrored panels, painted ceilings and parquet floors, restored from the original Grill Room and now hired for private dinners and receptions. Ziggy's, named for David Bowie's Soho years, is a low-lit bar lounge in red velvet and fluted leather that suits drinks and a DJ later in the evening. A run of fumed-oak salons (Soho, Mayfair, Nicols and Nash) line the Glasshouse Street and Regent Street frontages, each panelled, daylit and sized around a single table.
For a music-led evening the appeal is discretion and character: rooms that hold a seated dinner and open up for a set, a dedicated events team, and a recognisable Regent Street address. Sound and DJ logistics are arranged on enquiry rather than fixed as a permanent installation.

The Pompadour Ballroom
Exclusive HireThe hotel's largest event space, a restored Louis XVI ballroom of mirrored panels in gilded frames, Corinthian pilasters and a painted decorative ceiling, with a clear parquet floor for dancing. Large double doors open onto a pillared terrace overlooking Regent Street. It seats 110 for a banquet and holds 250 for a reception, taking everything from gala dinners and weddings to launches and presentations.
Queensberry
PrivateA generously proportioned room running along Regent Street, panelled in fumed oak and lit by full-height windows over Piccadilly Circus. It seats 100 for a banquet and holds 150 for a reception, and reconfigures for dinners, presentations and meetings. The largest of the hotel's panelled salons.
The Domino Room
PrivateThe signature private space at Hotel Café Royal, restored from the building's original Grill Room. A gilded Louis XVI salon with mirrored panels in carved frames, painted and moulded ceilings, parquet floors and tall floor lamps, hired for private dinners along a single long banquet table or set with low cocktail tables and sofas for a standing reception.
The Mayfair Room
