Hanover Bar

Hanover Bar occupies the rooftop of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, above Hanover Square. Floor-to-ceiling windows carry the view from Hampstead Heath across to the London Eye, and a chandelier modelled on the texture of the sky hangs over the room. Studio Indigo designed the interior in sky blues, amber and champagne tones, with Breccia Fantastique stone floors and low seating turned toward the glass.

The bar seats fifty indoors and opens onto a terrace lined with illuminated planters, reached by a private lift through a glass cube at roof level. Resident DJs play Thursday through Saturday from early evening, when the licence runs to 1am. The cocktail list nods to Mayfair's own drinking history and is served with small plates such as lobster tacos, Wagyu and caviar hotdogs, ceviche and sushi.

For private events the whole rooftop takes exclusive hire, indoor bar and terrace together, for up to eighty-five guests, with catering from the kitchens below and fifty bedrooms in the hotel underneath. A late licence and a resident DJ programme make it one of the few rooftops in Mayfair set up for a party rather than a quiet drink.
