Grantley Hall

Grantley Hall was built by Thomas Norton in the late 17th century, a plain Palladian block of seven bays facing south to the River Skell. His son Fletcher Norton, Speaker of the House of Commons and later the first Lord Grantley, extended it into a country house, and the shipping magnate Sir Christopher Furness gave it much of its present shape after he bought the estate in 1900. The Sykes family bought the Grade II* listed house in 2015, restored it over four years and opened it as a hotel in July 2019. It has 47 bedrooms and suites and 38 acres of gardens, including a Grade II listed Japanese Garden.
The house holds its oldest rooms for dining. Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, which holds a MICHELIN star, sits in the former Music Room under an ornate plaster ceiling; on Mondays and Tuesdays the same room is let as The Music Room for up to 50. Beside the kitchen, The Dales Suite seats 18 among red damask and crystal chandeliers, and the Kitchen Table puts a small party among the chefs. Fletchers keeps two more private rooms: Parklands, oak-panelled with an original fireplace, and the Brook Room, green-walled and hung with mirrors.
The evening happens in the Garden Pavilion, set apart from the hall. The Grantley Suite seats up to 180 at banquet, with its own bar, a terrace over the Japanese Garden and space for a stage and dance floor. Below it, Valeria's is a 1920s-styled Champagne and cocktail bar with booths, a dance floor and a DJ booth, taking 150 for a reception, and Bar & Restaurant EightyEight next door takes 150 across two floors. Taken whole, the estate gives a party every bedroom, bar and restaurant, the spa and the helipad, and a marquee on the lawns takes a larger guest list.

Exclusive HireThe whole estate: the original hall and 38 acres of grounds, all 47 bedrooms and suites, the bars and restaurants including Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, the Garden Pavilion with the Grantley Suite, Valeria's and EightyEight, the Japanese Garden and the helipad. The house quotes up to 180 guests in the Grantley Suite, and a marquee from a preferred supplier takes a larger party. The spa and gym stay open to Grantley Hall members.
The Grantley Suite
PrivateThe purpose-built event suite in the Garden Pavilion, away from the main hall, under a large chandelier. It has a foyer, a private bar, a private terrace with direct access to the Japanese Garden, space for a stage and dance floor, and in-house audio-visual equipment. It seats 170 to 180 at banquet, or 150 for a wedding with a dance floor.
Bar & Restaurant EightyEight
Exclusive HireThe Asian-inspired restaurant and bar in the Garden Pavilion, spread over two floors, with private booths and a terrace over the Japanese Garden. It seats 70 at banquet-style tables or takes 150 for a party with canapés.
The Orchard
Semi PrivateA seasonal dining and drinks space in the grounds with a private bar and lounge furniture, looking over the gardens. It takes 150 for a drinks reception and can open onto the West Lawn.
Valeria's Champagne & Cocktail Bar
Exclusive HireAn underground bar on the lower ground floor of the Garden Pavilion, styled on the 1920s, with booth seating, a private bar, a dance floor and a DJ booth. It is the house's late-night room and takes 150 for a private reception.
The Music Room
Exclusive HireThe 18th-century Music Room in the main hall, under an ornate plaster ceiling and hung with artwork, which is the dining room of Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall for the rest of the week. It is let exclusively on Mondays and Tuesdays for up to 50 at banquet or 30 at one long table, with the adjoining Drawing Room as a breakout space, and holds a wedding ceremony for 120.
Parklands
PrivateThe main private dining room of Fletchers Restaurant, on the ground floor of the hall with views over the West Lawn, oak panelling and an original fireplace. It seats 16 at dining tables or 20 at a long table.
The Dales Suite
PrivateThe private dining room of Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, next to the kitchen, with red damask walls, antique prints and crystal chandeliers, and access to the Cigar Terrace. It seats 18 at a long table, with a dedicated front of house team and sommelier, Wednesday to Sunday.
The Brook Room
PrivateA small dining room beside Fletchers Restaurant on the ground floor of the hall, with green walls, antique mirrors, artwork, window seats and views over the West Lawn. It seats ten.
Kitchen Table
PrivateA table inside Shaun Rankin's kitchen for a tasting menu served by the chefs, with a sommelier on hand for pairings. The event spaces page gives eight guests and the restaurant page six. Wednesday to Sunday.
