/ About
Eve Bar occupies the low-lit floor beneath Frog by Adam Handling on Southampton Street, reached by a staircase that drops away from the Covent Garden pavement into candlelight. The room is dressed in blue velvet, with banquettes, booths and lounge nooks set around marble-topped tables, a reclaimed-timber bar running one wall and framed artwork lining the others. Enclosed below street level, it keeps its own door and its own hours long after the theatres empty.
The list is built on what the bar calls its three Cs: cocktails, Champagne and caviar. This is Adam Handling's drinking room, a counterpart to the Michelin-starred kitchen upstairs, and the mixing is treated with the same seriousness as the plating. Named for the neon that presides over it, 'resist everything except temptation', Eve trades in unhurried indulgence rather than volume.
For private events the whole bar takes exclusive hire for up to fifty guests, or a semi-private section for up to fifteen, with bespoke cocktail and food menus arranged around the occasion. The scale is intimate and the setting sultry, which makes it a natural home for a late reception or a DJ-led evening below the restaurant.
