Eagle Bar

Eagle Bar occupies the rooftop of The Chancery Rosewood, the Rosewood group's Mayfair hotel set inside the former United States Embassy on Grosvenor Square, the Modernist building Eero Saarinen completed in 1960. The bar takes its name from the gilded eagle that once crowned the embassy: a work forged from B-52 aircraft aluminium by the American sculptor Theodore Roszak, it now presides over the room as its namesake. Wrap-around terraces open above the Mayfair treeline, with views across Grosvenor Square towards Hyde Park.

The bar runs as two connected spaces. Eagle Bar Upper East is the indoor room, an adults-only cocktail bar drawing on Old New York and the classic canon, its curved counter glowing beneath a sculpted ceiling and walls of backlit spirits. Eagle Bar Upper West is the open terrace, where the afternoon turns to Champagne and aperitivo as the sun drops behind the skyline. The drinks are led by Liana Oster, formerly of NoMad London, whose list includes the Beacon 52, a layered rework of the B-52 named for the sculpture overhead.

For private events the rooftop reads as one of Mayfair's more characterful receptions: low-lit interiors, a resident DJ setup and a terrace that carries the room through the evening. Hire is arranged through the house and the hotel's events team, and the spaces suit celebrations, launches and milestone gatherings above the square.
