Cometa

Cometa is the first permanent restaurant from Ed and Ollie Templeton, the brothers behind Carousel, and it opened in February 2026 in the group's Fitzrovia home on Charlotte Street. After years of rotating guest-chef residencies, they have settled on one idea: contemporary Mexican seafood built around British day-boat fish. The kitchen, led by Ollie Templeton with Jose Lizarralde Serralde and Alejandra Juarez, sends out ceviches, aguachiles, crab rice and whole lobster, with the coastal cooking of Mexico City filtered through UK waters.

The room is the Templetons' own design, a quiet evolution of the wine bar that stood here before. Oak tables, custom carpentry, terrazzo floors and handmade linen curtains keep the mood understated; blue and green pendants hang over walnut-panelled booths, and colourful canvases by the American painter Todd Bienvenu break up the white brick. A bar lined with mezcal and tequila runs the length of the back wall, and the drinks list leans into agave, with three margaritas, micheladas and aguas frescas poured from carafes.

Charlotte Street runs across three Georgian townhouses, and above the restaurant sits a full floor given over to private events. The Green Room is a private dining room for around thirty; the White Room, with its crittall windows and original oak floorboards, takes sixty seated or a hundred and twenty-five standing; and the whole floor can be taken for larger evenings. Group and private bookings run through the Carousel events team.
