/ About

Claridge's has stood on Brook Street since 1812, and the Art Deco interior completed under the direction of Basil Ionides in the 1930s remains largely intact — a listed landmark that has hosted state banquets, society weddings, and film premieres across nine decades. The Ballroom, with its three-tiered coffered ceiling and re-gilded columns, is the grand set piece; the adjoining Ballroom Reception with its mirrored walls and marble floors serves as an equally striking antechamber. Between them they offer the infrastructure for a serious music event in one of the most recognisable rooms in London.

Beyond the Ballroom, the hotel's character lives in a series of smaller, more intimate spaces that reward exploration. The Drawing Room — all pale plasterwork ceilings and twin marble fireplaces — connects seamlessly to the French Salon, whose gilded wood panelling, restored murals, and crystal chandeliers give the combined space an unmistakably grand-house feel. For something more discreet, the Fumoir is an insider's bar of deep-red lacquer walls, etched Art Deco mirrors, and a horseshoe counter that seats forty in conditions of near-perfect intimacy. The Painter's Room, with its pink marble bar and stained-glass window, is another room that operates on a smaller, more personal scale.

Claridge's events team handles everything from room configuration to bespoke menus drawn from the hotel's kitchens. The Foyer & Reading Room, with its signature central flower arrangement and arched mirrored walls, operates as the hotel's social heart and is available for exclusive hire. For a DJ event — whether an intimate late-night party in the Fumoir or a full takeover of the Ballroom — Claridge's offers a level of address and architectural theatre that is genuinely singular.

The French Salon

Adjoining the Drawing Room and connectable for larger gatherings, the French Salon is the more theatrical of the two spaces. Original Art Deco ironwork by Basil Ionides, gilded wood panelling, Renaissance-style cherubs over the doors, and a recently uncovered mural of a dancing couple create an interior that needs no dressing. It seats 96 and receives up to 120 standing.
