Chishuru

Chishuru is chef Joké Bakare's modern West African restaurant on Great Titchfield Street in Fitzrovia, holding one MICHELIN star. The cooking draws on Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa traditions and is served as a set menu. The name means "eat silently" in Hausa, a nod to the quiet that falls over a table once the food arrives.
The restaurant occupies a narrow two-floor maisonette. Warm terracotta walls, carved wooden screens, West African artwork and custom beaded light fittings run through both the ground floor and the moodier basement below. For private events the ground floor seats up to 18 at a single long table, the basement holds 19 to 24 across several tables, and the whole restaurant can be taken exclusively for up to 38 guests.
