One Moorgate Place

One Moorgate Place is the trading name of Chartered Accountants' Hall, the Grade II* listed headquarters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales on Moorgate Place. John Belcher's original 1890-93 building — one of the City's richest examples of late Victorian Baroque Revival architecture, extended by J.J. Joass in 1926-30 and William Whitfield in 1959-70 — now operates as an events venue across seven bookable spaces, from the domed, stained-glass Main Reception Room to the modern Great Hall.

The building's history is worked into almost every room. The Members Room keeps its original library shelving, a portrait gallery and a balustraded gallery bridge modelled on Venice's Rialto; the Main Reception Room sits beneath a glazed dome, colonnaded on stone columns and painted with murals by George Murray. Alongside them, the Great Hall and the Auditorium & Atrium were rebuilt for contemporary conferencing, and the One Moorgate Place Club adds a members'-bar dining room with an exposed-brick and blue-velvet fit-out — a deliberate contrast to the Victorian rooms around it.

Five minutes from Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Bank, the Hall takes private hire for conferences, dinners, receptions and weddings, with catering delivered by Searcys. Capacity runs from an eight-person meeting room to the 400-guest Great Hall, so the venue works equally for an intimate boardroom session and a full City institution takeover.
