/ About
Century Club has occupied the same Shaftesbury Avenue address since 2001, spread over 24,000 square feet and five floors of a 19th-century building that once held the Ford Motor Company's first London showroom and, later, a set-design warehouse for the West End theatres. Its membership is drawn largely from the arts, media and creative industries, and the interiors match: exposed brick, patterned bar fronts, book-lined lounges and a curated art collection rather than the panelled hush of a St James's clubhouse.
The roof terrace is the reason most people come. It is one of Soho's largest outdoor spaces, sitting under a fully retractable glass roof that opens to the sky in summer and closes without ending the party, with a full bar, a clear floor and views running from Shaftesbury Avenue to the BT Tower. Below it, the Green Room is a panelled, daylit room with built-in AV and a lighting rig that turns just as easily to a screening, a cabaret or a wedding breakfast; it is licensed for civil ceremonies. The Club Lounge and the Cocktail Lounge handle drinks-led evenings, and four meeting rooms on the Wardour Street side take smaller dinners and boardroom hire.
The whole club can be taken over. Booking is open to non-members as well as members, which is unusual for Soho and worth knowing: the events team hires the building out for launches, premieres, wrap parties and weddings, and the roof terrace carries DJ decks and a PA as standard.
/ Rooms Available
Full Venue Hire
Exclusive HireThe whole club, taken over across four floors: the roof terrace, the Green Room, the Club Lounge, the Cocktail Lounge and the meeting rooms, with the layout, lighting and AV of each shaped around the event. Used for launches, premieres, wrap parties and large private celebrations.
The Roof Terrace
Exclusive HireOne of Soho's largest outdoor spaces, under a fully retractable glass roof that makes it usable through the year. A full bar runs down one side, a living wall and olive trees line the other, and the parquet floor is left clear for dancing. Views run from Shaftesbury Avenue across to the BT Tower and the London Eye. DJ decks and a PA are in place.
Green Room
PrivateA panelled room with natural light, built-in AV and a rig of theatre lighting overhead, licensed for civil ceremonies. It resets between formats without fuss: banquet rounds for a wedding breakfast, raked seating for a screening or a talk, a cabaret layout for a performance. Hire includes the adjoining Outer Terrace.
Club Lounge
PrivateThe second-floor lounge: wooden floors, exposed beams, book-lined walls and a mixed bag of patterned armchairs, with windows over St Anne's Church. A working members' room by day that turns into a bar by night, often with live music. Laptops are banned after six.
Cocktail Lounge
Semi PrivateExposed brick, a patterned bar front and deep armchairs in blues and greens, with the club's mixologists working the counter. The most natural room for a drinks-led evening that runs late.
Outer Terrace
Semi PrivateA sheltered deck adjoining the Green Room, with parasols, banquette seating and space to step outside without leaving the party. Included when the Green Room is hired, and the club's designated smoking area.
The Wardour
PrivateThe largest of the four meeting rooms, panelled and lit by a chandelier and wall sconces, with a long table down the middle. Named for the Soho street, and reached by the club's private Wardour Street entrance.
The Shaftesbury
PrivateA blue-panelled room overlooking Shaftesbury Avenue, set for a long lunch or a board meeting under brass chandeliers. Screen and Wi-Fi in place; the fridge is a house standard.
The Broadwick
PrivateTen seats around a single table, with bookshelves behind and daylight from the Soho windows. The smallest of the meeting rooms, and the easiest to hold for a working session.
The Compton
PrivateA darker, quieter room for ten, with pendant lighting over the table and a screen at one end. Suits a breakfast meeting or a small private dinner.
