A Georgian townhouse at 67 Dean Street, built in 1732 and hidden behind a plain black door. Blacks has been restored for the first time in a century, and the redesign gives each floor a loose theme drawn from Dante's Divine Comedy. Every room is candlelit, panelled and densely hung; the club describes the effect as a film set, and that is about right.
You enter through the basement. The Hellfire Club is the darkest room in the house, lacquered deep red beneath a mirrored ceiling, and it is the one floor built for dancing: there is a dance floor, a house PA, and guests may bring in their own DJ. Purgatorio, above it, holds the Coffee House and the Apothecary's Bar. Paradiso is the main salon, with a private Boudoir off it for very small dinners. At the top sit the Library and the Card Room, used for readings, music performances, poetry, screenings and talks.
This is a boutique house and the scale is worth stating plainly: the whole club taken together holds up to 120 standing, and no single room exceeds 35. It suits an intimate dinner, a birthday, or a launch with a DJ in the basement, rather than a large party. Private bookings are now taken on every floor. Noise is restricted after 23:00 and the house is licensed until 1am.

The Whole House
Exclusive HireAll four floors taken together, from the Hellfire Club basement up to the Library. The house holds up to 120 standing across the floors, and 36 seated. Taking the whole club is how a larger party works here, since no single room is big.
The Hellfire Club
PrivateThe basement, lacquered in deep red beneath a mirrored ceiling, with velvet banquettes, a black stone fireplace and candles throughout. It is the room built for music: a dance floor, a house PA, and guests may bring in their own DJ. It runs later than the floors above it.
Paradiso
PrivateThe main salon on the upper floor, panelled in cream and gold beneath a painted ceiling, with a marble fireplace and a crystal chandelier. Round tables for dinner, and a private Boudoir opening off it for very small parties. Amplified music is limited here and external DJs are not permitted.
Purgatorio
PrivateThe middle floor, given over to eighteenth-century pastimes: the Coffee House with its long refectory table and benches, the Apothecary's Bar, and a wig and glove shop along the alley. Green-panelled and candlelit.
The Library & Card Room
PrivateThe top floor, lined with gothic oak bookcases and hung with portraits. The club uses it for readings, music performances, poetry, screenings and talks, with the Card Room alongside. It has its own facilities, so the floor can be run independently of the rest of the house.
