Berners Tavern

Berners Tavern is the grand all-day dining room of The London EDITION, the Ian Schrager hotel set behind a listed Edwardian facade on Berners Street. The room is the draw: a soaring ornamented plaster ceiling, a single sculptural chandelier and walls hung salon-style with more than two hundred framed pictures, all anchored by a long backlit bar. It reads as a brasserie scaled up to a ballroom, and it has been one of Fitzrovia's most photographed dining rooms since the hotel opened.

The kitchen, under Jason Atherton, serves contemporary British cooking across breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Saturday brunch and a Sunday roast. The restaurant runs as a working dining room by day and converts cleanly for private use: the whole room can be taken for a reception or seated dinner, the acoustics and lighting already built for atmosphere rather than retrofitted for it.

For smaller, more discreet gatherings there is a separate Private Dining Room one floor up, panelled in grey with a dark-walnut table beneath an original skylight. Between the two, Berners Tavern handles anything from a twelve-cover dinner to a full-room celebration, with the hotel's events team and in-house kitchen behind it.
