BAFTA's headquarters at 195 Piccadilly reopened in January 2022 after a multi-million pound redevelopment of the Grade II listed building, spreading the Academy across five floors and 1,600 square metres of event space. Private hire gets the same rooms BAFTA uses for its own ceremonies: the Ray Dolby Room, a full-wall projection space that seats 144 for dinner or clears for 300 standing, and the Princess Anne Theatre, a 227-seat screening auditorium built to broadcast specification.
The Richard Attenborough Rooms make the quieter case for the address, an 1880s glass-domed atrium overlooking St James's Church gardens, restored rather than remodelled and hired on a limited number of dates a year. Below it, the Reuben Gallery's marble bar and the connected Creative and Future Galleries scale from a small boardroom meeting to a 300-person reception, and a fifth-floor open-air terrace looks down over Piccadilly Circus.
Every room in the building can broadcast to, and link with, every other, a working legacy of the live and virtual awards ceremonies staged here for a global industry. Catering runs from BAFTA's own kitchen brigade, and the entire five floors can be taken as a single booking on the handful of dates each year they come free.
