/ About
AngloThai is the first permanent home for John and Desiree Chantarasak, who built a following through residencies and supper clubs before opening on Seymour Place in November 2024. A Michelin star followed within three months. The kitchen reads Thai cooking through British seasonality, holding the salty, sweet, spicy and sour balance while sourcing produce from these isles, and the head sommelier leads a low-intervention wine list built to sit alongside it.
The ground-floor dining room runs to around forty covers in a calm, pale-panelled space, with abstract canvases, walnut tables and a long banquette under tall windows that open onto the street. It can be taken exclusively for a seated dinner or a standing reception. Downstairs sits Baan, the private dining room whose name is the Thai word for home. Designed by May Redding in a mid-century Thai art deco register, it seats up to sixteen around a single table cut from Chamchuri wood in Chiang Mai, beneath two amber Murano glass chandeliers, with hand-carved tambour panels lining the walls.
Baan runs its own changing tasting menu with the sommelier on hand for pairings, the darker, more enclosed counterpart to the room above. Together the two spaces suit a private dinner, a celebration or a closely held corporate evening where the cooking and the wine carry the night.
