Man to Man

Manfred Karge’s Man to Man runs at the Royal Court from Saturday 5 September to Saturday 24 October 2026, translated by Anthony Vivis, revised by Stephen Unwin and directed by him. The premise is a single image held for a lifetime: in 1930s Germany a woman puts on her dead husband’s trousers and never takes them off, enduring war and dictatorship in his name. It opens the Royal Court’s autumn season. The theatre is marking seventy years of its own playwriting this year.
