London Art Fair runs at the Business Design Centre in Islington from 20 to 24 January 2027, with a preview on 19 January.
Every January since 1989, the Business Design Centre in Islington has opened the British art calendar with London Art Fair. The 2027 edition runs from Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 January 2027.
The fair’s subject is Modern and Contemporary British art, set against work from further afield. More than 120 galleries take stands. It comes long before Frieze week in October, when the international trade flies in.
The buyers are largely British, and much of the work is priced for a private collection rather than a headline. That has made the fair a place where collections are started.
Its Museum Partnership brings a public collection to hang alongside the trade each year, which is unusual for a commercial floor. Sheffield Museums is the 2027 partner, and a prints and editions section runs alongside.
Lisa Anderson curates Platform, the section given to a single theme. Encounters, the fair’s section for contemporary and experimental work, changes its brief each edition. The preview is the evening before the fair opens, on Tuesday 19 January.
