The Haitian DJ and Deep Root Records founder, whose house draws on the Caribbean and Africa, takes over KOKO for a three-night weekender.
Francis Mercier, the Haitian DJ who founded Deep Root Records, plays KOKO in Camden on three nights from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026. The run is a Deep Root weekender of Afro house.
Mercier was born in Port-au-Prince and went to an international school in Haiti, where American rap and pop, French music and African music reached him at once. He built his early career from New York on deep and electro house, recording with Diplo, Major Lazer and Magic System.
At the start of the 2020s he grew tired of tech house and turned towards deeper, more percussive music drawn from Africa and the Caribbean. “Sete”, his collaboration with BLOND:ISH, became the record of that change.
Deep Root’s artists have passed 500 million streams. His party Solèy, named for the Haitian Creole word for sun, holds a residency at Hï Ibiza, and he has played Coachella and EDC Las Vegas. Black Coffee, Keinemusik and Vintage Culture have all played his records.
Friday and Saturday run through the night in the Theatre, and Sunday closes the weekend as a daytime party.
