Christie’s keeps its Modern British and Irish evening sale a week clear of Frieze, and in 2026 it falls on Wednesday 21 October at 8 King Street. The department is the one that handles Hepworth, Nicholson, Bacon and Freud, and the evening session is where the pictures with a name attached go rather than the day sale that follows it on the Thursday. A start time is not yet published; the catalogue and the pre-sale view are announced in the weeks before. Christie’s has occupied King Street since 1823, which makes the saleroom itself older than most of what it sells that night.
