The Greek tenor saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos, an honours graduate of Berklee College of Music, plays a lunchtime set at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea on Friday 20 November 2026. The pianist Paul Edis joins him for the EFG London Jazz Festival.

Xenopoulos made London his permanent base and formed The Xtet in 2009. In 2017 he and the guitarist Nigel Price formed the XPQ, whose debut Sidekicks traced the saxophone and guitar partnerships of jazz history.

He also co-leads Five-Way Split, a bop ensemble nominated at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. He keeps working ties in Greece and Cyprus as a leader and a guest, and teaches saxophone and improvisation.

The quartet with Edis is the oldest of his partnerships, and the two met 20 years ago, both newly arrived in West London to study. Their record Feels Like Home, released on the Ubuntu label in April 2024, is written around the places each has called home. The set in the Culford Room draws on it.

Edis came to London from the north-east of England. Mirko Scarcia on double bass and Billy Pod on drums complete the quartet.
