Greek rock's most commercially successful band, Pyx Lax returned to Camden's Electric Ballroom for a sold-out night thirty-seven years into their career.
Pyx Lax, the most commercially successful group in Greek discography, played a sold-out night at Electric Ballroom in Camden on Wednesday 4 February 2026.
Filippos Pliatsikas, Babis Stokas, Sakis Stamoulis and Panayiotis Spyropoulos formed the band in Athens in 1989. They took the name, Greek for punching and kicking, from a theatre production running in the city that year.
Their demo reached Manos Xydous of Minos EMI, who joined the band himself. Pliatsikas, Stokas and Xydous led it as a trio until Xydous died in 2010. Records such as Asti Na Lei in 1993 gave Greek rock a run of entehno-rock standards through the 1990s.
In 1999 they recorded “Let the Picture Do the Talking” with Sting and the Corsican group I Muvrini, a rare English-language song. The band held three gold and five platinum albums when it dissolved in 2004. They reunited for a tour honouring Xydous in 2011, then permanently in 2018.
The Electric Ballroom began as an Irish dance hall in the 1930s and took its current name in 1978. It holds 1,500 across two dance floors, and Pyx Lax filled it thirty-seven years into their career.
