The Athens jeweller Nikos Koulis shows at PAD London on Berkeley Square from 13 to 18 October 2026, the only UK fair given over entirely to historical and contemporary design.
Nikos Koulis read literature and philosophy before he studied gemology and glyptography at the Gemological Institute of America, an unusual order to do it in, and it shows in the work. He founded his Athens maison in 2006 and makes from his own atelier with his own workshops behind it, rather than designing and sending the drawings out — a distinction that separates perhaps twenty houses in the world from everyone else selling at this level. The pieces are architectural: black enamel used as a line rather than a background, white diamonds set into geometry that owes more to the Bauhaus than to Athens.
The house keeps four boutiques, in Athens, Paris, Mykonos and Paros, so PAD is where a London collector meets the work without going to any of them. The Oui line, with its enamel outlines, is the one that made the name, and it is now widely enough imitated to have become a look rather than a signature.
PAD London runs on Berkeley Square from Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 October 2026, the same week as Frieze and a five-minute walk from nothing at all. Patrick Perrin founded it in 2007 and it has been the only UK fair dedicated entirely to design and decorative arts since, which is why the jewellers taken seriously as designers show here rather than at a jewellery fair.
