One of Greece's most decorated pop bands, Melisses gave their first major London concert at the landmark Roundhouse, drawing a sell-out crowd from the diaspora.
Melisses, the Athens pop band with 23 MAD Video Music Awards, played their first major London concert at the Roundhouse in Camden on Sunday 5 October 2025.
Christos Mastoras, Thanos Laitsas and Kostas Mavrogenis formed the band as a five-piece in Thiseio, Athens, in May 2008. The name is Greek for bees, taken from a line a passer-by shouted outside a bar serving rakomela.
Their debut single, “Kryfa”, held the Greek radio top ten for three months. The album that followed, Mystiko, won them Best New Artist at the 2010 MAD Video Music Awards, and ten of their awards since have been for Best Band.
Two members left by 2017, and Mastoras, Laitsas and Mavrogenis continue as a trio, signed to Panik Records since 2014. Their catalogue includes 16 diamond, platinum and gold singles and a gold album, and five of their songs have held number one in airplay.
The Roundhouse began as the Great Circular Engine House, a railway turntable shed built in 1846 for the London and Birmingham Railway. The one-off date drew a sell-out crowd from London’s Hellenic diaspora.
