The Greek comedian returns to London with TSOUVELAS II — ninety minutes of characters, storytelling and improvisation at the Troxy.
Alexandros Tsouvelas was born in December 1981, to a family from Arta, and grew up in Peristeri in west Athens as the son of a priest. He is six foot three, played basketball and football seriously enough to consider a career in them, and came to comedy instead through sports radio, where his vocal impressions of coaches, players, officials and reporters made his name before anyone had seen his face. He finished a degree at the International Hellenic University and sang at village festivals for a living before the radio work found him. The neighbourhood and the family are still where most of the material comes from.
He does not work from a fixed script. A Tsouvelas show runs on impressions, self-mockery, a relentless pace and crowd work, so a substantial part of any night is made in the room and cannot be repeated, which is the reason his audience goes back. In September 2026 he sold out the Telekom Center Athens, 19,720 seats, one of the largest stand-up audiences in Greek history.
TSOUVELAS II reaches the Troxy on Sunday 25 October 2026, ninety minutes and probably longer, over-14s only. The Troxy is the Limehouse art deco hall, built as a cinema in 1933, that has held most of this calendar’s touring Greek acts. Doors and the show both at seven.
