The Ned occupies the former Midland Bank headquarters at 27 Poultry, the 1924 Grade I-listed building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, whose nickname gives the place its name. Behind the banking-hall grandeur on the ground floor sit ten restaurants, a string of bars, a rooftop members' club and 250 bedrooms, but the event rooms that interest us are gathered on the fully restored sixth floor. Six private rooms and two outdoor terraces share a reception area up here, each one carrying period detail the bankers left behind: walnut and mahogany panelling, original chandeliers, chalk friezes and tall domed windows that pull in daylight.
The rooms run from the 14-seat Rose Room up to The Tapestry Room, which takes 200 guests and is named for the pastoral tapestry wrapping its upper walls. They suit a private dinner that turns into a party: the panelled rooms hold sound well, the floors are built for dancing once the tables clear, and a resident DJ setup slots in easily. The Ned's events team builds food and drink to match, from cocktails and canapes through to seated dinners.
This is the City venue we point clients to when they want heritage architecture without a stuffy boardroom feel. The Tapestry Room and The Saloon carry a real sense of occasion, while the smaller Drawing Room and RWB Room work for tighter guest lists that still want the Lutyens setting.

The Tapestry Room
PrivateThe Ned's most iconic event space, named for the pastoral tapestry that wraps the upper walls, the largest of its kind produced in England when it was made in the 1920s. Original walnut panelling, crystal chandeliers and domed windows fill the 165 square-metre room with natural light. It clears for dancing and takes a resident DJ setup, making it the standout choice for a dinner that becomes a party.
The Saloon
PrivateA bright 125 square-metre room dominated by an 18th-century chandelier sourced from London's Devonshire House, with an ornate chalk frieze and a restored parquet floor. It connects to The Drawing Room, so the two can be hired together for larger gatherings, and the parquet lends itself to a dancefloor and DJ.
The Drawing Room
PrivateConnected to The Saloon, this 70 square-metre room has a club-like feel, its restored panelled walls lined with period etchings, paintings and lithographs. A more intimate setting for seated dinners and receptions that still wants the Lutyens character.
The Princes Dome
PrivateOne of two converted domes on the roof, with its own outdoor terrace for eating and drinking. The 56 square-metre interior pairs a bar counter with banquette seating under the dome, giving a distinctive rooftop room set apart from the main sixth-floor suite.
The RWB Room
PrivateDistinguished by its unique light oak panelling, the 45 square-metre RWB Room has an intimate, informal atmosphere. It works for private dinners and smaller celebrations where a warmer, more enclosed setting suits the guest list.
The Rose Room
PrivateThe most intimate of the sixth-floor rooms at 21 square metres, the Rose Room features original chandeliers, a marble fireplace and wood panelling. Suited to small private dinners and boardroom-style gatherings.
