/ About
Frieze opened No.9 Cork Street in October 2021 as its first permanent exhibition space, in the middle of Mayfair's gallery district. Two townhouses were converted by the architects Matheson Whiteley into three floors of gallery, and the programme runs year-round: international galleries take a floor at a time, so the walls change every few weeks and the room never looks the same twice.
The hire space sits on the lower ground floor. It runs to 70 square metres with a 16-metre wall, integrated AV and a projector, and it takes 60 standing or 40 seated. There is no in-house kitchen. A prep kitchen is fitted for external caterers, which means the menu is yours to choose rather than the building's.
For a private view, a launch or a dinner, the appeal is the address and the company it keeps. Cork Street sits a short walk from Bond Street and the Royal Academy, and guests arrive into a working gallery rather than a hired room.
