Meraki

Meraki brings the Waney family, the restaurateurs behind Zuma and Roka, to a corner of Great Titchfield Street, trading the group's Japanese repertoire for the Greek and Aegean cooking of chargrilled meats, whole fish and mezze. The dining rooms run across two floors of exposed brick and vaulted ceilings, with a street-level bar that keeps its own entrance and daylight, and a lower restaurant that turns semi-private for larger tables.

Downstairs, The Living Room is the reason a DJ-led night works here. It is a fully private space of teal banquettes, marble tables and a foliage-hung ceiling, with its own bar, a DJ setup and a sound system built for the after-dark mood the room chases. Two curtained Caves seat eight apiece for a table that wants to disappear from the rest of the floor, and Saturday nights run to resident and guest DJs.

For a private event the building flexes from a drinks reception at the ground-floor bar to a seated dinner across the lower restaurant, or a closed-door party in The Living Room with the music turned up. A Greek kitchen in central Fitzrovia, and a room that already knows what to do after the plates are cleared.
