/ About
Ladbroke Hall was built in 1903 as the Clément-Talbot motor works, an Edwardian car showroom whose Beaux Arts front echoes an English country house. Loïc Le Gaillard and Julien Lombrail, the founders of the Carpenters gallery, bought it in 2019, restored it as a single building and opened it in April 2023. It now holds more than 150 live events a year, from Friday jazz in the Sunbeam Theatre to classical recitals, screenings and talks.
Pollini, the Italian restaurant at the centre of the building, is led by the chef Emanuele Pollini under a 14-metre ceiling, with site-specific work by Nacho Carbonell, Christopher Le Brun and Vincenzo De Cotiis. Its kitchen caters every space in the house, from canapés to tasting menus. The Sunbeam Theatre keeps the original 1903 Sunbeam Talbot crest above a grand staircase and parquet floor, with a bar under the mezzanine and soundproofed walls. The Studio next door is a 297-square-metre hall under a motorised truss, with drive-in loading and room for 400 standing.
Behind the hall, Luciano Giubbilei’s garden runs the length of the building, with artworks from Carpenters and a 1944 house by Jean Prouvé that seats 12 for dinner. Inside, the Library is panelled by the artist Ingrid Donat in sculpted wood and bronze and seats 12 over the garden. Events in the garden and on the terrace finish at 21:30.
