Hedsor House

Hedsor House stands high above the Thames on the Buckinghamshire and Berkshire border, a Georgian-style mansion rebuilt in 1868 in 100 acres of Grade II listed parkland, neighbour to Cliveden. The Boston family, courtiers to George III, entertained Queen Victoria here. In 1925 the racing driver D'Arcy Baker bought the house and remodelled it inside and out, and since 1932 it has belonged to the Shephard family, now in their fourth generation. It opened to private events and film crews in 2007.

For a celebration the whole house and its gardens are let to one host from the morning of the event until ten the next day, with the thirteen bedrooms included for 26 overnight guests. The Centre Hall rises under an Italianate dome with a balcony running round it, and it is where the dancing happens. Beyond it sit the panelled Ballroom with its crystal chandeliers, seating 150, the blue Drawing Room and its adjoining Boudoir, the Library and the Willingdon Bar, papered in botanical prints and lined with mirrors over the Dutch sunken garden.

The house holds 150 for a seated dinner and 250 for a party, and a long dinner can also be laid on the South Terrace, looking down the South Lawn to the Thames Valley. Carriages are at midnight, with a 1am extension on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Catering and production come from the house's approved list, and a host may bring their own DJ or band. Hedsor also takes weddings, corporate events and retreats.
