Gray's Inn

Gray's Inn is one of the four Inns of Court, training barristers on this site since before 1388. Its Hall has changed little since Elizabeth I's reign: stained glass dating to 1462, a carved screen from the 1570s, and the room where the Lord Chamberlain's Men gave the first recorded performance of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors in 1594. Bomb damage in the Blitz meant the Hall was rebuilt to its original design by 1951; it still seats up to 176 for dinner and takes standing receptions for up to 180.
The wider estate adds eight further rooms across the Domus Building and 10 South Square, from oak-panelled private dining rooms to boardrooms fitted for meetings and a green-carpeted members' library with a marble fireplace. Each summer a marquee is raised across The Walks, the Inn's five-acre private garden laid out in 1608, taking seated dinners for up to 400 and standing receptions for up to 1,000.
Searcys has catered events at the Inn since January 2025. Hire runs through the venue's own events team and spans award dinners, weddings, corporate conferences and private receptions.

The Walks & Marquee
Exclusive HireFive acres of private garden, laid out in 1608 for Sir Francis Bacon, whose statue overlooks South Square. Each summer a marquee is raised across the lawns with a dancefloor, an integrated bar and an extended terrace with a second bar, taking seated dinners for up to 400 or standing receptions for up to 1,000 across the marquee and gardens.
The Hall
Exclusive HireLargely unchanged since Elizabeth I's reign, with stained glass dating to 1462 and a carved screen from the 1570s beneath a hammerbeam roof. Rebuilt to its original design after Blitz damage and reopened in 1951, the room is licensed for wedding ceremonies and takes seated dinners for up to 176, standing receptions for up to 180, or theatre-style seating for up to 170.
The Large Pension Room
PrivateA bright, first-floor room in the Domus Building with a marble fireplace and chandeliers, licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. Takes seated dinners for up to 56 at round tables, theatre-style seating for up to 100, or standing receptions for up to 110.
The Bingham Room
PrivateA flexible first-floor space in 10 South Square that opens as one room or divides into Bingham East and Bingham West, each fitted with a 75-inch screen for video conferencing. Takes theatre-style seating for up to 60 or a standing reception for up to 65.
The Small Pension Room
PrivateAn oak-panelled room in the Domus Building with a mahogany table and a ceiling detailed with rose motifs, suited to intimate dinners. Seats up to 16 at a long table, or takes a standing reception for up to 30.
The Birkenhead
PrivateA lower-ground-floor room in 10 South Square suited to small meetings and lectures, fitted with a 75-inch screen for video conferencing. Takes theatre-style seating or a standing reception for up to 30.
The Holt
PrivateA contemporary ground-floor meeting room in 10 South Square with views over The Walks and air conditioning, fitted with a 75-inch screen for video conferencing. Takes theatre-style seating for up to 25, or boardroom-style meetings for up to 12.
The Rose Heilbron Room
PrivateA ground-floor meeting room in 10 South Square with natural daylight, fitted with a 75-inch screen for video conferencing. Suited to meetings and boardroom-style sessions for up to 22 delegates.
The Benchers' Library
