Gidleigh Park

Gidleigh Park stands in 107 acres of gardens, woodland and riverbank on the edge of Dartmoor, on the banks of the River Teign outside Chagford. The house is a timbered, Tudor-style country house with Arts and Crafts interiors, antiques and oak panelling. Andrew Brownsword bought it in 2005, closed it for a refit of the house and restaurant in 2006 and reopened it in January 2007, and it is a member of Relais & Châteaux.

The restaurant holds one MICHELIN star in the 2026 guide. Executive Chef Ian Webber cooks from Devon produce and the kitchen garden, and the cellar is one of the house's calling cards. The three dining rooms, Meldon, Nattadon and Teign, double as private rooms, and Meldon and Nattadon open into each other through a double door for a larger table. The oak-panelled Drawing Room is the largest of the event rooms and takes 60 guests for dinner or a reception.

The whole estate can be taken on an exclusive-use basis: the house, the grounds and all 24 bedrooms and suites, for a family celebration, a leadership retreat or a wedding. The team arranges falconry, clay shooting, wine tastings and walks on the moor, and helicopter access can be arranged.
