Fortnum's Bar & Restaurant at The Royal Exchange

Fortnum & Mason opened its bar and restaurant in the central courtyard of the Royal Exchange in November 2018. The room has no walls: it sits on the tiled floor of the Grade I listed building that Queen Victoria reopened in 1844, ringed by the arcade, with a horseshoe bar at the centre under a canopy of slender steel ribs. Four storeys of stone rise above it to the glazed roof.

Service runs from breakfast through lunch and afternoon tea to dinner, Monday to Friday, and all day on Saturday. A terrace is laid outside under the portico columns at Bank and can be booked privately by itself. The kitchen, the wine list and the cocktail list are Fortnum's; external catering is not taken.

For events the floor is let whole or in half, and the restaurant holds a wedding licence. Enquiries go to Fortnum's private dining team, who work with the house's own chefs. The published hire terms allow a party to bring in its own music and DJ.
