/ About

Two livery companies share this hall on Cloth Street, a few steps from Smithfield and a minute from the Barbican. The Worshipful Companies of Farmers and of Fletchers own it jointly, which is unusual among the City halls and gives the building a lighter, less freighted character than the older Great Twelve houses. An oak spiral staircase carries guests down from the reception floor to the Great Hall, and that descent is the arrival moment the room is built around.

The Great Hall is the headline space, taking gala dinners, livery banquets, awards evenings and receptions with dancing beneath a herringbone timber wall and deep teal panelling. Above it sit the Court Rooms, used for private dinners, smaller conferences and board meetings, and dividing into two when a programme needs both. A reception floor handles drinks and canapes on the way in, and a separate meeting room works as a breakout or a green room. The spaces hire individually, in combination, or as an exclusive-use venue.

For a hosted evening the practical points matter as much as the provenance. Catering is in-house and British-sourced, with halal and kosher menus available and external caterers permitted; there is a lift to every floor and a cargo lift for load-in; the rooms are air-conditioned and take natural light. The venue's own listing states no noise restrictions and welcomes a guest's own DJ. The alcohol licence runs to midnight, with temporary event notices available beyond it.

Reached by the oak spiral staircase, the Great Hall is the building's principal room and the one built for an evening rather than a meeting. A herringbone timber wall runs the length of it against deep teal panelling, and it reconfigures for formal dining, gala and awards evenings, livery dinners and receptions with entertainment and dancing.
