/ About

Electric House is Soho House's Notting Hill club, opened in 2002 above and beside the Electric Cinema, the Portobello Road picture house that first opened its doors on 24 February 1910 and remains one of the oldest working cinemas in Britain. The House runs over two floors of the same building: original domed ceilings, a roof garden, and an art collection hung room by room that is the first thing most members mention.

The main House room is the one that sets the tone, a long barrel-vaulted space in brushed brass and herringbone parquet, with an oak bar down one side, banquettes and low armchairs, and an open kitchen and wood-fire grill framed by an arch at the far end. Off it sit The Snug, a curtained corner of the dining floor that takes a single long table, and The Library, wood-panelled with a pressed-tin ceiling and a fully equipped bar of its own. At street level, Speedboat Bar, the Thai kitchen that made its name in Chinatown, took over the old Electric Diner room in 2025.

Hire is split, and it is worth being plain about it. Electric Cinema, next door, is booked by anyone: 83 seats, two-person beds on the front row, sofas at the back, a fully stocked bar and a 4K projection and surround-sound rig, which is why it draws press launches and premieres. The House itself, including The Library, The Snug and a full House takeover for 150, is booked through a Soho House member. Both run through the same West London events team.
