/ About
The Champagne Bar sits on the first-floor gallery at The Landmark, above the Winter Garden Restaurant, under what the hotel calls a botanic horizon: a planted canopy of climbing greenery and flowers arched over a curved counter, with the palms of the Winter Garden rising around it and the balcony galleries eight storeys above. Low armchairs and sofas are arranged on rugs across the marble outside the bar itself, so the room has the feel of a garden pavilion rather than a hotel lounge.
Champagne and small plates are the whole proposition, and the planting is dressed differently through the year, most recently for a Provençal summer takeover with rosé pairings. Live jazz plays on Friday and Saturday evenings, from half past six until half past nine.
It trades long hours by hotel-bar standards, from nine in the morning Monday to Friday and to half past ten Tuesday to Saturday. Unlike the Winter Garden or the Mirror Bar it stays open right through the afternoon, which suits a daytime or early-evening reception. Larger groups are handled by the restaurant reservations team.
