Brasserie Max

Brasserie Max is the all-day restaurant and bar of the Covent Garden Hotel, Firmdale's Seven Dials townhouse hotel on Monmouth Street. Kit Kemp designed the room in dark woodwork offset by greens and florals, with mirrors, candelabras and walls hung with an eclectic mix of art, from Victorian oils to Perspex fish sculptures. The building was formerly a French dispensary, and its exterior brickwork still reads 'Nouvel Hopital et Dispensaire Francais'.

A long pewter bar runs the length of the space, poured for martinis and champagne and open for cocktails until midnight from Monday to Saturday. Head chef Martin Sweeney, previously of HIX and Petersham Nurseries, cooks brasserie classics alongside modern European dishes built on seasonal produce. Its position among the Covent Garden theatres makes it a fixture for pre- and post-show dining, while a heated terrace on Monmouth Street seats guests out on the pavement.

The restaurant takes private bookings across the dining room, the bar and the terrace, and the whole room can be held exclusively for a reception. It is a natural fit for a private dinner, a launch or a celebration in the middle of the West End.
