At Sloane is a thirty-room townhouse hotel set in a red-brick mansion building on Sloane Gardens, a quiet residential corner moments from Sloane Square. It is the first London address from the Costes family, the Parisian hoteliers behind Hotel Costes, and the interiors carry that signature: restored antiques, period wallpapers, trompe-l'oeil and a deep, lamp-lit palette that feels closer to a private home than a hotel. Each room is individually dressed, and the public spaces, a fireside drawing room, a book-lined library and a low-lit bar, set the tone before you reach a single bedroom.

The heart of the building for an event sits at the top. The sixth-floor restaurant is a light-filled room clad in white-lacquered shelving laden with more than five hundred vases, a contemporary nod to Whistler and Thomas Jeckyll's Peacock Room of 1876. Stained-glass windows and a mirrored backdrop scatter daylight across white-clothed tables and Mackintosh and Hoffmann chairs, while doors open onto a small terrace with rooftop views over Chelsea. The kitchen serves French classics from breakfast through dinner. Tucked off the dining room is the Cupola, a discreet octagonal nook that seats four, the kind of hideaway a host can claim for a private toast.

Downstairs, the bar trades daylight for velvet, dark wood and candlelight, a richly layered room hung with photography and built for evening drinks and after-dinner conversation.
