Jamie Cullum previews his tenth studio album in Blue Note London’s launch season, at a fraction of the scale his arena and hall dates command.
Blue Note London opened its first club on St Martin’s Lane in September 2026, and Jamie Cullum plays four shows there this week as part of the launch season.
The booking says as much about the room as about the artist. Cullum takes the Royal Albert Hall for two nights in December with the same big band, and a room this size is not normally where an artist at that level works. He built his name at closer range regardless: a pianist who performs like a frontman, standing on the instrument, taking standards at the tempo of a rock band and moving between the songbook and a pop cover without announcing the join.
Two decades and ten studio albums into that career, the playing has never lost its willingness to fall apart, and neither has the range: he still presents his own radio show and moves between jazz, pop and the standards repertoire without treating any of them as the serious one.
The same opening season carries Robert Glasper, Yussef Dayes, Nubya Garcia and Erykah Badu. He plays four shows across Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September 2026, an early one and a late one each night, with the big band, previewing his tenth studio album, written out of the standards repertoire Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and Count Basie worked in.
