The fourteenth Concours of Elegance brought 75 invited cars to Hampton Court Palace in 2025, and their owners crowned a 1926 Rolls-Royce known as The Phantom of Love.
The fourteenth Concours of Elegance filled the grounds of Hampton Court Palace in East Molesey, Surrey, from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 September 2025. The watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne presented it.
Thorough Events staged the first edition inside the walls of Windsor Castle in September 2012, as a tribute to the Diamond Jubilee. The show moved to the garden of St James’s Palace in 2013 and reached Hampton Court in 2014.
The form is older than the motor car. The concours d’élégance began in seventeenth-century Paris, where aristocrats paraded their carriages through the parks.
A concours of this kind is invited rather than entered. A curatorial team assembles the main field, and the owners of the concours cars choose the Best in Show themselves.
The 2025 edition drew more than 15,000 visitors to a main field of 75 cars. A Formula 1 display marked the championship’s 75th year, led by an ex-Fangio Mercedes-Benz W196R.
The owners chose a 1926 Rolls-Royce Phantom I known as The Phantom of Love. Clarence Gasque, a Woolworth director, ordered it for his wife from the coachbuilder Charles Clark & Son.
