Adriana Mater

Kaija Saariaho and Amin Maalouf’s Adriana Mater plays the London Coliseum from Saturday 28 November to Saturday 12 December 2026. English National Opera puts the question the piece turns on directly — like father, like son? — and the work follows a mother raising a child conceived in wartime violence. It is one of four operas by contemporary female composers in the house’s 2026/27 season, a slate of nine works of which six are new productions.
