Oedipus (Sophocles) starring Rami Malek and Indira Varma

The Old Vic staged a new adaptation by Ella Hickson of Sophocles’ Oedipus, the ancient Greek tragedy, across a ten-week run on The Cut in Waterloo. Academy Award winner Rami Malek played the title role opposite Olivier Award winner Indira Varma as Jocasta. The production was co-directed by the theatre’s artistic director Matthew Warchus and choreographer Hofesh Shechter, whose movement work threaded through the staging. Running roughly one hundred minutes without an interval, it counted among the most anticipated West End engagements of the season.
