Jacqueline Lentzou's second feature, a single day in the life of a fifteen-year-old girl that won her Best Director in Venice's Orizzonti, screens at the BFI London Film Festival.

Jacqueline Lentzou’s second feature, which won her Best Director in the Orizzonti section at Venice, screens at the BFI London Film Festival at Curzon Soho on Saturday 17 October 2026.

Lentzou was born in Athens in 1989 and raised in Thessaloniki. She chose film at 14 after seeing Gus Van Sant’s Elephant, and trained at the American College of Greece and the London Film School.

She paused her studies for 18 months to care for her father, who had multiple sclerosis. That period became Moon, 66 Questions, her first feature, which won the Golden Puffin in Reykjavík in 2021.

The new film follows Jo, 15 and given to dreaming of her own death, through one school day in which a classmate’s singing voice brings her a first real friendship. Lentzou traces it to the 2008 police killing of Alexis, a 15-year-old boy shot in her own Athens neighbourhood, whom she describes as present through his absence.

The festival shows it in its Dare strand, in Greek with English subtitles, with a second screening at the ICA on Sunday 18 October.

Evita Andriopoulou plays Jo, and Colin Stetson wrote the score.
