A space scientist and an actress-singer stage the Sun at Cyprus House — Solar Orbiter data, Cypriot myth and live music in one evening, free and booked in advance.

Dr Georgios Nicolaou works on the European Space Agency’s Solar Orbiter, the spacecraft returning data from closer to the Sun than any before it. Elena Hadjiafxendi is an actress and singer, and the piece is hers as much as his. Together they narrate, sing and play the Sun as two things at once: the object a mission is currently measuring, and the one Cypriot culture has been telling stories about for far longer.
Nicolaou takes narration, vocals, guitar and the acoustic instruments; Hadjiafxendi narrates and sings. The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission hosts it in its own building on St James’s Square.
Two hours from seven, with a wine reception after. Admission is free and places are booked in advance.
