/ About

Tramp has occupied the same subterranean address on Jermyn Street since December 1969, when founders Johnny Gold, Bill Ofner and Oscar Lerman took over the basement of the former Society Club — retaining its 17th-century oak panelling and frescoed zodiac ceiling, and adding a no-photographs rule that held for over fifty years. The guest list across those decades reads like a roll call of 20th-century celebrity: the Stones, Caine, Moss, Princess Margaret (who is said to have arrived via an underground passage from St James's Palace). It remains the template for London private members' nightlife.

After changing hands in 2024, Tramp underwent a £12 million renovation led by designer Fran Hickman, reopening in September of that year. The club now comprises five distinct spaces across one basement floor: the Nightclub and its resident DJ booth, the Zodiac Room for seated dining, the Lounge with its original horseshoe bar, the Gold Room (named for co-founder Johnny Gold) opening onto the Terrace, and Jackie's Lounge, an intimate green-walled dining room named for novelist Jackie Collins. Charlie's Snug, a tucked-away corner with woven walls and custom seating, completes the floor.

For private events the spaces can be taken individually or in combination. The Nightclub holds 150 standing and has a built-in DJ booth with a full in-house sound system, moving-head lighting and a disco ball that have been part of the room's identity for decades. The Zodiac Room seats 80 and stands 100 beneath its original zodiac fresco. The Gold Room and adjoining Terrace together accommodate up to 60 guests. The club operates with a late licence.
