/ About

Over-Seas House is the London clubhouse of the Royal Over-Seas League, a Grade I listed building tucked into a courtyard off Park Place, behind the Ritz and overlooking Green Park. The League has been here since 1922, and the house keeps the layers of its history room by room: silver-grey panelling bequeathed by the Indian government in 1937, an original John Rysbrack marble chimneypiece dated 1736 in what was once the Duchess of Rutland's dressing room, and a 1920s art deco dining room. Its private-events offering is branded Six Park Place.

There are ten event spaces across the clubhouse, ranging from boardroom-scale dining for a dozen to a reception for 180. The Princess Alexandra Hall is the largest, a concert hall that has hosted musicians for over seventy years and converts easily for parties, with a stage, integrated sound and a sprung wooden floor that takes a dance floor and DJ setup. The Hall of India & Pakistan carries the historic panelling and its own bar; smaller drawing and dining rooms run along the garden front, several with chandeliers, marble fireplaces and views over the lawn.

The rarity here is the garden. Few central London venues hold a private walled garden of this size, planted in the English style with roses, woodland trees and a wide lawn, and it can be hired with the adjoining Drawing Room in summer. Catering is in-house only, with an events team handling planning and service, and the building's bedrooms mean guests can stay on site.
